A large red poppy headband on brushed out hair, with poppy skulls for the beginning of Winters Samhuinn Skulls are an extremely important part of European folklore including the seasonal tide of Samhuinn. From even before the bronze ages we believed that the soul resides in the skull not in the heart. Through to the end of the Iron age we carried these beliefs so much so that crypts were kept in Europe to home the skulls of our departed to keep their souls protected and at home. In European Egypt, this soul also has the ability to see through their eye or pineal gland which when looked at is actually the shape of the eye of Horus. Whilst the North embraces the beginnings of summer with Bealtainne we in the South are across the veil reigning in Winters beginning of Samhuinn. One of the things that hits my mind at rebirth of Winter is darkness, long nights and skulls and this headband was from one of my Samhuinn 2018 shopping hauls. I also like to wear this over my hair up in a vintage loose bun when celebrating events at the witching hour or on the occasional dark moon workings. I have included coloring my hair temp with vegan purple color adorned looks at the end of this post. More vegan makeup posts will be coming but I'm still practicing application at the moment and am waiting on better lighting so I can see what I'm doing and also take better pictures without having to brighten them all up.
